Non-Vin Chaud (Alcohol-Free Mulled Wine)

“Non-Vin” Chaud

(Alcohol-Free Mulled Wine)

Yield: ¾ gallon

Ingredients

24 oz POM Pomegranate Juice

24 oz Cranberry Juice (unsweetened)

1 oz Blooming Kitchen Co Seasonal Soothe Tea Blend

3 cups Water

1/3-1/2 cup Raw Honey

1 Navel Orange, sliced

3 Cinnamon Sticks

5 Whole Cloves

3 Star Anise Pods

Preparation

  1. Place a large pot on the stove and boil the water. Once water has boiled, make a tea concentrate by placing 1 oz of Seasonal Soothe Tea Blend in a loose leaf tea strainer OR a fine mesh strainer. Over a large heat-proof bowl, pour the 3 cups of boiled water over the tea inside the strainer. Steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea strainer. Set aside the concentrated tea mixture.
  2. In the same large pot used to boil water; add the pomegranate juice, cranberry juice, brewed tea concentrate, honey (start with 1/3 cup and increase from there to your desired sweetness, the mixture should be tart with subtle sweetness, just like you would get from mulled red wine), orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. Place mixture on the stove over low heat.
  3. Gently simmer over extra low heat for 1 hour and up to 4 hours. Share with family & friends by pouring 4-6 oz into individual mugs. Enjoy the warmth & benefits of this traditional holiday brew!

Mulled Wine aka Spiced Wine is a traditional warm beverage shared during the holiday season, especially at Christmas Markets in Europe. I have fond memories of it being ladled into our mugs in Strasbourg while shopping the Christmas Markets with my host family. Warming us from head to toe!  We’ve put our own spin on this classic by opting out of the alcohol and enhancing the health benefits with antioxidant power-house; pomegranate, cranberry, and our signature Seasonal Soothe Tea Blend. Pause, savor, & nourish…warm your soul & share with loved ones this holiday season & many more to come! Cheers
